Products Description

5083 aluminum alloy plate is the core grade of Al-Mg series anti-corrosion aluminum alloy, with magnesium as the main alloying element. It combines high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, superior weldability and low-temperature stability. It cannot be strengthened by heat treatment, but its strength can be improved by cold working. Widely used in harsh scenarios such as marine engineering, pressure vessels, transportation and low-temperature equipment, it is the preferred structural material with both lightweight and reliability.

1.1 Grade & Standards
  • Grade: 5083 (internationally common); corresponding to Chinese standard GB/T 3190, ASTM B209/ASME SB209.
  • Core Characteristics: High magnesium content (Mg≈4.0%–4.9%), synergistic effect of Mn/Cr, excellent seawater corrosion resistance and welding performance.
1.2 Supply Forms & Specifications
  • Forms: Hot-rolled plate, cold-rolled plate, annealed plate (O temper), semi-hard plate (H111/H116/H321), checkered plate, customized special-shaped plate.

Processing & Quality Control
3.1 Processing Characteristics
  • Weldability: Excellent, suitable for MIG/TIG welding; recommended welding wire: 5183/5356; weld strength can reach 95% of the base metal.
  • Formability: O temper is easy to bend, stamp and deep-draw; H116/H321 requires greater forming force; thick plates (≥6mm) are suitable for hot working (150–260℃).
  • Surface Treatment: Anodizing, spraying and polishing are available to further improve corrosion resistance and aesthetics.
3.2 Production & Quality Control
  • Process: High-purity raw material smelting → homogenization treatment → hot rolling/cold rolling → solution treatment/cold working hardening → heat treatment → surface treatment → finishing → inspection → packaging.
  • Quality Control: Full-process coverage of spectral composition analysis, tensile/hardness testing, UT/ET non-destructive testing, dimensional and surface quality inspection; EN 10204 3.1 material test certificate can be provided; DNV/ABS and other certifications are available for marine tempers.
  • Packaging: Waterproof paper + kraft paper + fumigated wooden box/pallet, suitable for sea, land and air transportation.
