This series focuses on cold rolled stainless steel flat bars, a flat profile material distinct from round rods, square bars and hexagonal bars we covered before. Adopting precision cold rolling technology, paired with two mainstream anti-corrosion grades 304 and 316, it features flat surface, neat edges and ultra-tight dimensional tolerance. Boasting excellent surface finish and formability, it is a versatile base material covering industrial manufacturing, architectural decoration and equipment retrofitting scenarios. Unlike hot rolled products prioritizing structural toughness, cold rolled flat bars excel in surface quality and dimensional precision, ideal for parts requiring flat fitting, surface assembly and aesthetic appearance. As the universal all-purpose grade, it strikes a perfect balance between performance and cost. It delivers reliable resistance against atmospheric oxidation, moisture and ordinary dust erosion, performing steadily in indoor workshops, open construction sites and conventional operating environments. The material has outstanding ductility and cold forming ability, supporting bending, stamping, cutting and welding smoothly without cracking or deformation. Its comprehensive mechanical properties can meet the load-bearing and assembly requirements of most conventional parts, making it the most widely used flat bar for general manufacturing and decoration.
Upgraded molybdenum-containing grade for harsh corrosive conditions. The added molybdenum element greatly enhances resistance to chloride ions, salt mist, dilute acid and alkaline substances. It effectively avoids pitting corrosion and rusting in humid, coastal, chemical and water-contacting environments where 304 is limited. Meanwhile, it retains excellent machining performance and structural stability. It is the preferred choice for equipment and components that need long-term service in severe corrosive working conditions, with far longer service life than ordinary stainless steel.
The core feature of this product lies in cold rolling craftsmanship, which sets it apart from hot rolled profiles. Processed at room temperature through multiple passes of fine rolling, the material grain structure becomes finer and denser, bringing two obvious strengths:
First, superior surface quality. The surface is smooth and uniform with fine metallic luster, no oxide scale, pits or uneven texture. It can be used directly for exposed parts without secondary polishing, saving follow-up processing costs.
Second, high dimensional accuracy. The overall width, thickness and straightness are strictly controlled within narrow tolerances. When used for lap jointing, surface mounting and lining assembly, the fitting gap is tiny, ensuring assembly precision and overall structural tightness.
After rolling, we conduct stress relief treatment to eliminate internal processing stress. The flat bar will not warp, twist or rebound after long-term placement or secondary cold forming, maintaining stable flatness all the time.
Different from rod-shaped profiles that rely on point or line contact for assembly, flat bars adopt surface contact structure. The large flat contact area disperses pressure evenly, so it is not easy to slip or deform under load, greatly improving the stability of assembled structures. Neat right-angle edges facilitate scribing, positioning and clamping during machining, which is more convenient than round and special-shaped bars for plate cutting, splicing and lining production.
This profile is highly adaptable to combined use: multiple flat bars can be assembled into frames, brackets and protective structures in various combinations, with flexible layout and strong structural expandability. It is both a structural load-bearing material and a decorative surface material, realizing dual functions of practicality and aesthetics.
Both 304 and 316 cold rolled flat bars have excellent comprehensive processing performance. They are compatible with sawing, plasma cutting, bending, punching, drilling and various welding processes. The incision is neat with few burrs, and the bending section has uniform stress without fracture. Welded joints maintain consistent anti-corrosion performance and strength with the base material, no complicated post-weld treatment is required.
For manufacturers and construction teams, this material has low processing difficulty and high finished product yield. We support pre-processing services such as fixed-length cutting, edge trimming and chamfering according to drawings, delivering semi-finished products directly to shorten production cycles.
