TP304: Carbon (C) content ≤0.08%, Silicon (Si) content ≤1.00%, Manganese (Mn) content ≤2.00%, Phosphorus (P) content ≤0.045%, Sulfur (S) content ≤0.030%, Chromium (Cr) content is 18.00 - 20.00%, Nickel (Ni) content is 8.00 - 11.00%.
TP304L: Carbon (C) content ≤0.035%, Silicon (Si) content ≤1.00%, Manganese (Mn) content ≤2.00%, Phosphorus (P) content ≤0.045%, Sulfur (S) content ≤0.030%, Chromium (Cr) content is 18.00 - 20.00%, Nickel (Ni) content is 8.00 - 13.00%. Compared with TP304, TP304L has a lower carbon content, which makes it less sensitive to intergranular corrosion during welding and has better welding performance and corrosion resistance.
 
Mechanical properties
Tensile strength: TP304 is generally above 515MPa, TP304L is slightly lower, usually above 485MPa.
Yield strength: TP304 has a yield strength of at least 205MPa, while TP304L has a yield strength of at least 170MPa.
Elongation: Both have good elongation, generally above 35%.
