What Is BK+S?

BK+S refers to a cold-drawn tube supplied in a stress-relieved condition. In hydraulic cylinder applications, stress relief helps reduce residual stresses introduced during cold drawing and supports dimensional stability during subsequent machining, honing and cylinder assembly.

The equivalent designation commonly used under EN 10305-1 is E355 +SR, while DIN 2391 specifications commonly use ST52-3 BK+S.

Honed Internal Surface

The internal surface is precision honed after cold drawing to produce a smooth and accurately controlled bore.

A typical honed finish can achieve:

• ID tolerance: ISO H8
• Surface roughness: Ra ≤0.40 μm
• Typical honing finish: Ra 0.2–0.4 μm
