Products Description

With its balanced chromium-nickel composition, 304 stainless steel provides good resistance to atmospheric corrosion, moisture, and many common industrial environments. It also offers excellent weldability and good formability, making it suitable for cutting, bending, rolling, stamping, and general metal fabrication.

The 6.0–8.0 mm 304 stainless steel plate is suitable for applications where greater thickness and rigidity are required, including food-processing equipment, kitchen and catering equipment, chemical-processing machinery, storage tanks, architectural fabrication, industrial equipment, machine components, and general stainless steel structures.

304 Stainless Steel Plate: Plate and Sheet Terminology

304 stainless steel plate is widely used in industrial equipment, structural components, pressure vessels, food processing equipment, architectural applications, and general metal fabrication. In international markets, the terms stainless steel plate and stainless steel sheet are sometimes used differently depending on thickness, processing method, industry standards, and regional terminology.
304 stainless steel is typically identified as AISI 304, UNS S30400, EN 1.4301, and X5CrNi18-10. Depending on the thickness, manufacturing process, surface finish, and applicable standard, the product may be described as a 304 stainless steel plate, 304 stainless steel sheet, or 304 stainless steel flat product.

FAQ

Q1: Is 1.4301 the same as 304 stainless steel?

A: 1.4301 and AISI 304 are commonly treated as corresponding grades. EN 1.4301 is designated X5CrNi18-10, while AISI 304 is commonly identified as UNS S30400. Chemical and mechanical requirements should always be checked against the applicable standard.

Q2: Is 304 stainless steel plate corrosion resistant?

A: Yes. 304 stainless steel offers good general corrosion resistance against atmospheric moisture and many common industrial environments. For high-chloride, seawater, or more aggressive chemical environments, 316L stainless steel may be a more suitable choice.

Q3: Can 6–8 mm 304 stainless steel plate be welded?

A: Yes. 1.4301 / 304 stainless steel has good weldability and can generally be welded using TIG, MIG/MAG, SMAW, and other suitable welding processes.

Q4: Can 304 stainless steel plate be cut to size?

A: Yes. We can provide customized width, length, and cut-to-size services according to customer drawings, specifications, and order requirements.

Q5: Can the 2B surface be polished or brushed?

A: Yes. The 2B surface can be further processed through brushing, polishing, grinding, or other surface treatments depending on the required final appearance.
