S44700 is a high-purity ferritic stainless steel. Due to the high chromium and molybdenum content, and the carbon and nitrogen content is reduced to a very low level, the corrosion resistance of UNS S44700 stainless steel plate is improved, especially the stress corrosion and pitting resistance, and it has a soft magnetic effect, but the brittle transition temperature becomes lower and the toughness is improved. The corrosion resistance is equivalent to that of pure nickel, and it has good toughness, processing formability and weldability.

Chemical composition
Iron (Fe): balance.
Chromium (Cr): 25.0%-28.0%. Chromium is the key factor for the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. It can form a dense chromium oxide protective film on the surface to prevent oxygen and other corrosive substances from further corroding the metal.
Nickel (Ni): The maximum content is 1.50%.
Molybdenum (Mo): The content is 3.5-4.2%. The addition of molybdenum can improve the corrosion resistance of UNS S44700 stainless steel plates in certain specific environments, such as in environments containing chloride ions.
Manganese (Mn): The maximum content is 1.00%.
Silicon (Si): The maximum content is 1.00%.
Phosphorus (P): The maximum content is 0.040%.
Sulfur (S): The maximum content is 0.030%.
Carbon (C): The maximum content is 0.15%. The lower carbon content helps to improve the welding performance and intergranular corrosion resistance of UNS S44700 stainless steel plates.
In addition, it contains trace amounts of other alloying elements, such as aluminum (Al) and titanium (Ti), which help further improve the properties of stainless steel, such as corrosion resistance and heat resistance.
