17-4PH is the American ASTM standard grade. 17-4PH Stainless Steel Bar is a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel composed of copper, niobium and columbium. The steel has excellent compressive strength, excellent corrosion resistance, excellent machinability and high material hardness. The compressive strength of the steel can reach 1100-1300MPa. In addition, the corrosion resistance of the steel is the same as 304 and 430.

17-4PH stainless steel welding performance

17-4PH can be welded by any method in the solid solution, aging or over-aging state. No preheating is required before welding. This steel is also suitable for brazing, and the best brazing temperature is the solid solution treatment temperature.

17-4PH stainless steel heat treatment process: 17-4PH solid solution temperature 1020-1060℃, aging temperature 480-620℃, 4h, aging temperature depends on the use requirements.

Performance characteristics

Good corrosion resistance: In most media, its corrosion resistance is equivalent to that of 304 stainless steel. For example, it can maintain good stability in chlorine-containing media, salt water environment and acidic environment, and can be used in some corrosive environments.

Good machinability: 17-4PH Stainless Steel Bar can be formed by a variety of processing methods, such as cutting, forging, welding, etc., but hot processing is difficult, and the heating and cooling processes need to be controlled. Heat treatment before cold processing or hot forming methods can improve its formability.
