Pipe diameter specifications

Wall thickness
There are many choices for wall thickness corresponding to different pipe diameters. For example, NPS 1/2 stainless steel pipe compression fittings may have different specifications such as wall thickness of 1.65mm (SCH 5S), 2.11mm (SCH 10S), etc.; NPS 1 may have wall thickness of 2.11mm (SCH 10S), 2.77mm (SCH 20S), etc. Common wall thickness specifications also include SCH 30, SCH 40, STD, XS, SCH 80, SCH 160, etc. The larger the value, the thicker the wall thickness.
Compression connection principle
Compression type is a connection method that uses a socket pipe fitting with a sealing ring to connect the pipe, and uses a special tool to press the pipe mouth to seal and tighten. During assembly, insert the stainless steel water pipe into the pipe fitting, and use a special compression tool to clamp the socket part for compression. The pipe fitting and the pipe material at the compression part shrink and deform at the same time, forming a hexagonal shape, which plays a role in positioning and fixing. Main components and functions
Main body
The main body is the core part of the compression fitting, usually made of metal (such as stainless steel). Rings are usually made of elastic materials, commonly rubber (such as nitrile rubber, EPDM rubber, etc.) or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The collar is located between the main body and the stainless steel pipe. When the nut is tightened, the collar deforms under pressure. The rubber collar will fit tightly on the outer surface of the stainless steel pipe, filling the tiny gap between the two, playing a sealing role, and preventing the medium in the pipeline from leaking; in addition to the sealing function, the PTFE collar also has good chemical stability and low friction characteristics, which is suitable for some special media or pipeline systems with low friction requirements.
